Imported vehicles are quite rare in India. So, whenever there is an expensive luxury car on our roads, it attracts a lot of attention. We have seen several videos of these vehicles that people are reacting to these vehicles. Although they are expensive to maintain and import duties are high, people still import vehicles which are not officially sold in India. We have covered several. Here’s another one, it’s a GMC Sierra pickup truck.
The video is uploaded to YouTube by AK PHOTOGRAPHY 1503. The first thing anyone would notice in the video is the size of the GMC Sierra. This is the 2500 heavy duty truck. This is not the only example in India, there are also a few other GMC trucks that were privately imported.
The van gets a huge grille in the front. It has a GMC badge on it and lots of chrome on it. There are also two tow hooks which can be useful if the truck needs to tow anything. There’s also a hood scoop that supplies air to the engine and helps cool it. Headlights and daytime running lights are in one housing, there are also fog lights and a skid plate.
Once you move to the side, you will realize how long the GMC Sierra Denali is. It rolls with 20-inch all-terrain tires. There are huge wheel arches with plastic coating. There is a side step which makes it easy to get in and out of the van. Because the truck is so huge, the side mirrors are quite large and stick out on the outside.
We don’t know what engine this Denali is equipped with. We know that there is a naturally aspirated 6.6-liter V8 engine. It produces 401 Ps of peak power and 629 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to an automatic transmission.
Cars imported into India
Chevrolet never officially sold a Camaro in the Indian market, but that didn’t stop die-hards from importing one. There are quite a few Camaros in India. The one we see here is finished in silver and is the Roadster version. This one was first sent to Sri Lanka to be converted from LHD to RHD and then it came to India.
Dodge is known for its cars with raw muscle cars with massive engines. They also make SUVs with these massive engines. They once made an SUV called Nitro and it was spotted in Mumbai, it is also registered in Mumbai. There are only two Dodge Nitros in India.
There are some Escalations in India. One black was spotted in Hyderabad while the other belongs to the Ambani family. The Escalade is known for its enormous road presence and commanding appearance. SUVs are converted from left-hand drive to right-hand drive. It is powered by a 6.2 liter V8 engine that produces 420 hp of peak power and 624 Nm of peak torque. The transmission functions are provided by an automatic gearbox.
