The 2022 Dodge Journey, which was absent from the market in the 2020 production year, is back and facing fierce competition. The midsize SUV market is incredibly saturated right now, and the 2022 Journey will have at least 10 other competitors challenging its re-entry into the market.

The car also relies on independent front and rear suspensions. It also has an eight-inch central infotainment screen and some trims have an optional digital instrument cluster. The car has a combined fuel economy of around 25 MPG. Starting at around $27,000, the Dodge Journey is a respectable machine, but how does it compare to its direct competitors?

The Equinox also relies on a 1.5-liter engine capable of 28 MPG and 170 horsepower, so any difference between the two cars’ engines, if any, is negligible. The Chevy also starts at $25,000, two thousand dollars less than the Journey.


The Journey is available in 3 versions, the SXT (which is the standard model), the Sport and the GT. The Equinox is available in 4 different versions, each with at least two different style choices available.

The Sorento beats both the Equinox and the Dodge Journey in fuel economy, recording a combined fuel economy of 35 MPG when opting for the upgraded 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The higher level engine option can also help the car achieve over 280 horsepower.
