Although when it comes to off-road capability, the 2022 Defender surpasses many of its rivals, it isn’t as reliable as expected. JD Power rates the Defender 70/100, which means it’s about average in terms of reliability and build quality. For a luxury SUV that costs at least $47,700 (one of the most expensive in its class), you’d expect it to be trouble-free. But the 2022 Defender has one recall and five complaints so far, according to NHTSA.
