UPDATE: 47-year-old Georgetown man killed in pedestrian-SUV crash


SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 47-year-old Georgetown man was killed Saturday night when he was struck by a vehicle on McClelland Circle near Fincastle Way.

According to Scott County Coroner John Goble, Christopher Bell was pronounced dead at the scene around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Tucker, Yocum and Wilson Funeral Home will take care of the arrangements, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Department.

“Please join us in praying for Mr. Bell’s family and all of the first responders and people involved in this matter,” the department said in a statement.

The investigation is ongoing and is being managed by the Georgetown Police and Scott County Sheriff’s Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Georgetown Police said at 7:33 p.m. officers responded to McClelland Circle near Fincastle Way and discovered the pedestrian was dead. Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears that a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe driven west on McClelland Circle by Joseph Carhart struck Bell, who was on the roadway, police said.

Carhart is cooperating with the investigation and does not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said in a statement.

The unit was assisted at the scene by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Georgetown Fire Department, Georgetown / Scott County Emergency Medical Services, Scott County Emergency Management and the Scott County Coroner’s Office.


SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is asking drivers to avoid the Frankfort Road area and the bypass.

Members of Parliament are currently at the scene of a serious bodily injury between a car and a pedestrian. They’ve been on stage since 8 p.m.

The sheriff’s office says the road will be impacted for several hours.

The Scott County Sheriff’s and Georgetown Police Reconstruction Unit is on hand to investigate the collision.
