There’s no talk of a redesign for the Nissan Titan yet, but the full-size pickup is falling behind other models in its segment. The Toyota Tundra recently got a redesign for the 2022 model year after more than a decade of little to no changes.

The evolution of the Tundra makes the stagnation of the Titan even more noticeable. If the Japanese automaker wants the Titan to survive, it needs to make some changes. The Titan’s energy efficiency is too low for most consumers. Gasoline prices have reached record highs in 2022. Many drivers are looking to save money on fuel. The Titan may be powerful, but it’s also expensive.

The 2022 Nissan Titan starts at $40,605. It is more expensive than most full-size trucks in its vehicle segment. The 2023 Nissan Titan starts at $41,495. Although getting even more expensive, the new Titan isn’t much different from the previous model year.

Toyota may have taken its time redesigning the Tundra, but consumers and drivers are certainly glad the company finally acted. The latest model year of the Tundra resolves many of the major issues drivers had with older models. It has a more comfortable cabin, better technology and better gas mileage.

Toyota has successfully reinvigorated the Tundra’s nameplate. Nissan is expected to follow in the footsteps of fellow Japanese automaker Toyota and give fans the full-size truck redesign they’ve been crying out for.

Many industry experts predict that the gas-guzzling V8-powered Titan is on the way out. If there was ever a time to give the truck a serious update, it’s now.
